Volunteering at the CAT Thrift Store is a great way to give your time and talents to a worthy cause!
Thrift Store volunteers assist with things like organizing merchandise, cleaning and maintaining our store and backrooms, assisting customers, managing small projects, and other retail-related tasks. If you love people, the planet, and making a difference, come join us!
We often have a CAT Ambassador in the store. You can spend a little time with the kitty before or after your volunteer shift. If you’re primarily interested in cat caregiving, we do have some shifts that include cat care duties—or you might prefer to volunteer at the Cat Adoption Team shelter.
Your first step to becoming a CAT Thrift Store volunteer is to attend a Volunteer Orientation. Check out CAT’s event calendar for upcoming orientation dates.
Volunteers also get some special purrks! Active volunteers can take 20% off purchases at the thrift store and at our shelter retail store. Come join us!
Volunteer Requirements
- Attend a Volunteer Orientation session (see CAT’s event calendar for upcoming dates/times)
- Attend a placement interview (may be virtual) to discuss your volunteer interests and finalize your volunteer role
- Agree to follow CAT’s Workplace Culture Agreement
- Thrift Store volunteers commit to working a minimum of two hours per week and training is provided; experienced volunteers often assume leadership roles
All volunteers receive a CAT t-shirt and photo ID badge for use while volunteering. There is $20 fee due at the time of your placement interview to cover the costs of these items. (If that’s a hardship, please let us know. Scholarships are available.)
Looking for employment opportunities? Thrift Store paid positions are posted to CAT’s website when we are hiring.
