Volunteering at the CAT Thrift Store is a great way to give your time and talents to a worthy cause! Thrift Store volunteers assist with things like organizing merchandise, cleaning and maintaining our store and backrooms, assisting customers, managing small projects, and other retail-related tasks.
We do have a CAT Ambassador in the store who is available for adoption. You can spend a little time with the kitty before or after your volunteer shift. If you’re primarily interested in cat caregiving, we do have some shifts that include cat care duties—or you might prefer to volunteer at the Cat Adoption Team shelter.
Attending a Volunteer Orientation is the first step to joining the volunteer team. Check out CAT’s event calendar for upcoming orientation dates and times.
- Attend Volunteer Orientation (see event calendar for dates and times; you don’t need to RSVP; simply come to the shelter on the day and time of orientation).
- Complete our volunteer application.
- Complete a placement interview to discuss your volunteer interests and finalize your position.
- Thrift Store volunteers commit to working a minimum of two hours per week and training is provided; experienced volunteers often assume leadership roles.
Please note: All volunteers are required to wear a CAT t-shirt and photo ID badge when volunteering. There is $20 fee due at the time of your placement interview to cover the costs of these items.
Looking for employment opportunities? Thrift Store paid positions are posted to CAT’s website when we are hiring.
